Recovery phase
If you have only received proton radiation without combination therapy, you will have retained your customary quality of life. Significant impairment of your well-being–known as radiation poisoning–is either not expected at all or is only anticipated to a limited extent. As far as anyone with a job is concerned, this means you are almost always able to go straight back to work.
Regardless of the foregoing and how well you might feel, you should still have a recovery phase. This is absolutely essential following combination treatment. Your attending physician will also explain any treatment your skin requires in the area of radiation–with skin creams–and give you any prescriptions necessary. No specific instruction is given regarding what you should do following radiotherapy. You‘ll be informed if the irradiation of individual organs and specific tumour diseases requires you to take particular care of any part of your body. Otherwise, we simply advise you to do and eat what you like most during the recovery phase.
