PROHEALTH AG was founded in May 1999 by Hans Rinecker, in order to make proton therapy more widely accessible to cancer patients. The purpose of the company is to construct and operate proton centers within the European Union.

The brand new RINECKER PROTON THERAPY CENTER (RPTC) is the first project of this kind to be completed. Another center is currently under construction in Cologne/Merheim. A third center is being planned near Leipzig.

The centers are owned by property companies and are privately financed. PROHEALTH organizes equity loans to finance the projects.
